Company Overview

Tartana Minerals (ASX: TAT), formerly R3D Resources, is a mineral explorer and project developer in Far North Queensland, with projects in the Chillagoe and Herberton mineral fields. The company is led by Executive Chairman Sonny Didugu and is undertaking a corporate and strategic review, including of its copper sulphate production facility, while prioritising systematic exploration across its tenement portfolio.

Business Segments & Field of Activity

Tartana Minerals operates in two main areas:

Copper Sulphate Production: a heap leach, solvent extraction and crystallisation plant producing copper sulphate pentahydrate, currently paused and under review

Exploration and Development: copper, gold and silver-lead-zinc targets across its Queensland tenements

Its key projects include:

1- Tartana Copper-Zinc Project: Chillagoe, Queensland. Four mining leases hosting the plant and an open pit that has been drill-tested for extensions

2- Cardross Gold Project: Queensland. A maiden Inferred Mineral Resource of 502,000 ounces of gold, reported in October 2025

3- Nightflower Project: Queensland. A silver-lead-zinc-antimony prospect where drilling began in September, the first there in 18 years

4- OK-Bellevue Project: Chillagoe district. A consolidated historic copper-gold district covering about 16.5 square kilometres, plus a 230-square-kilometre Bellevue tenement

Rock Chips Put OK Bellevue in the Spotlight

The 16 October announcement reported results from 11 selective rock samples across four prospects at the OK-Bellevue project held by Tartana Minerals, about 37 kilometres north of the Chillagoe operation. The OK Blocks prospect returned 17.1% copper, 0.46 g/t gold and 11.7 g/t silver from mullock near the historic OK North mine. At Hobblechain, outcrop samples returned 12.0 g/t and 3.32 g/t gold from silicified, gossanous breccia, while Windmill returned 10.7% and 10.1% copper and OK Dumps returned 8.29% and 3.61% copper. The company says the results will guide which scout drill targets to prioritise, alongside planned work at the historic OK North and OK Mine prospects, with a third geophysical target, Z3, still to be ground-truthed.

Selective Samples, Not a Resource

The company is careful to note that the samples are selective and may not represent average grade, mineralised width, or continuity. Mullock and dump material has also been moved from its original position, so it does not confirm in-situ mineralisation and no tonnage can be inferred. Historical drilling quoted for context, including 9 metres at 4.24% copper at OK North, was not drilled by Tartana and has not been independently verified. The next steps are mapping, sampling, a review of historical data, metallurgical testwork on dump material and the first scout holes under an existing conduct and compensation agreement.

A Balance Sheet Under the Microscope

Behind the exploration news sits a tight financial position. Copper sulphate revenue fell to $1.47 million in FY26 from $3.40 million as copper in the existing heaps was depleted and a chiller failure interrupted output, leaving a gross loss and a net loss of $5.0 million. Cash was $0.26 million at 30 June, and the auditor's report notes a material uncertainty about going concern. Convertible notes with a 15% coupon include $2.05 million due on 30 November 2026, so funding is likely to be a key focus in the weeks ahead. Equity raisings of $5.8 million during the year, including a $4.5 million placement at $0.03 earlier in 2026, helped fund exploration and working capital.

New Cornerstone Investor, New Board

In August, Xingye Gold (Hong Kong) took a 9.99% stake through a $2.3 million placement at $0.053 per share, well above today's price of $0.014. The same month saw a boardroom reshuffle, with two directors removed at a shareholder meeting and another resigning. The company has also said it will look for third-party capital or joint ventures and reduce lower-priority spending, while an independent review will decide whether copper sulphate production can restart reliably in FY27.

Risks Behind the Jump

Rock-chip results are an early indicator and many such leads do not convert into drilling success. With limited cash, notes falling due, and an auditor's going concern note, Tartana may need to raise capital again, which could dilute existing shareholders at low prices. The copper sulphate plant has not yet returned to reliable production, and drilling at the Beefwood prospect did not proceed. At about a cent and a half per share, trading is thin and volatile.

Technical Analysis of Tartana Minerals (ASX: TAT)

Source: TradingView

On the daily timeframe, TAT is still moving inside a descending channel, but it is currently trading above the channel’s midline and its support zone around $0.011 to $0.013, after reacting from that area on heavy volume.

If the market can hold above the midline, the price may extend its recovery toward the top of the channel, where the resistance zone around $0.024 to $0.025 sits. In our view, only a break above that ceiling with strong volume would suggest a new trend could be starting. Until then, the broader structure remains bearish, and a drop below support would put the recovery scenario at risk.
