Company Overview

Alvo Minerals (ASX: ALV) is an ASX-listed critical minerals explorer focused on Brazil. It has been listed since 20 October 2021. The company is advancing a heavy rare earth project in central Brazil alongside a copper-zinc development asset and has been building its profile in Brazil's critical metals sector.

Business Segments & Field of Activity

Alvo Minerals operates two exploration themes, both in Brazil:

Rare Earths: Ionic adsorption clay projects, where rare earths are held in weathered clay that can be extracted with comparatively simple processing
Copper-Zinc: A volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) project with a defined resource and further drilling potential

Its key projects include:

1- Bluebush Ionic Clay Heavy Rare Earth Project: Central Brazil. Tenure expanded to 9,859 hectares after the purchase contract with the vendors was finalised on terms matching the original MOU

2- Palma Copper-Zinc Project: Brazil. A JORC 2012 mineral resource of 7.6 million tonnes at 2.0% copper equivalent

3- Ipora REE Project: Brazil. An additional ionic clay rare earth exploration asset

Discovery, Expansion, Upgrade

Alvo Minerals describes its approach as a three-phase process of discovery, expansion, and upgrade, supported by community and stakeholder engagement. At Bluebush, diamond and auger drilling has now been completed and the tenure secured, which moves the project into its next evaluation stage. At Palma, the focus is on auger drilling, geophysical surveys, and geological interpretation to define targets for further diamond drilling. The company says Bluebush shares a similar geological setting with other ionic clay rare earth operations in Brazil, which is part of why the project has drawn attention.

Drilling Results and A$1 Million Raise

On 8 October the company reported completed drilling at Bluebush, with significant intercepts averaging 26ppm of dysprosium and terbium (DyTb), the heavy rare earths prized for magnets. Highlights included 5.0m at 1,390ppm total rare earth oxide (TREO), with 68ppm DyTb, and 19.5m at 1,324ppm TREO, with 38ppm DyTb.

Shortly before, Alvo secured a $1 million placement of 50 million shares at $0.02 each, with binding commitments from strategic and existing investors. The shares settled on 12 October and were issued on 13 October. For every two placement shares, investors receive one free unquoted option exercisable at $0.04 with an 18-month life, and GBA Capital will receive 8 million similar options for introducing investors. Both option issues are subject to shareholder approval at a general meeting planned for late November. Proceeds are earmarked for exploration at Palma, Bluebush, and Ipora, plus working capital.

Why Alvo Minerals Is Getting Noticed

Interest in Alvo Minerals has built around heavy rare earths, a segment that has drawn strong investor attention as supply chains for magnet metals come under scrutiny. The Bluebush intercepts, the larger tenure, and the funding in place to keep drilling have given the story fresh momentum. Near-term catalysts include an investor webinar hosted by Managing Director Rob Smakman on 14 October, covering Bluebush exploration progress, tenure expansion and the Palma update.

Risks Behind the Rally

Alvo Minerals is an early-stage explorer, and drilling intercepts do not guarantee that a project will prove economic. Rare earth recoveries, clay depth and continuity, and metallurgical performance all need further testing. The company has a small balance sheet relative to its exploration ambitions, so more capital raisings are likely, and the 50 million placement shares alone add roughly 17% to the share count, with a further 33 million options still to be approved. Gains of this size on heavy volume can reverse quickly, and trading in a micro-cap can be thin and volatile.

Technical Analysis of Alvo Minerals (ASX: ALV)

Source: TradingView

On the daily timeframe, ALV has gained substantial momentum over recent sessions, breaking several key resistance levels on heavy volume to test a major resistance zone around $0.090 to $0.095. If the market corrects from here, the support zone around $0.057 to $0.063, just below the broken $0.070 breakout level, could be considered by traders as a potential buying area.

On the other hand, if ALV can break the current resistance with strong volume and momentum, further upside beyond the recent high of $0.105 is possible. In our view, a confirmed move above this zone, rather than a brief spike, would signal that buyers remain in control, although with the RSI deep in overbought territory, a pause or pullback along the way would not be unusual.
